How to Be a Fashion Stylist with Erica Wark.

Erica Wark is a Canadian Celebrity Fashion Stylist and On Air Fashion Expert who has made a killer personal brand for herself. I sat down with Erica for a conversation to learn about her career journey and her advice on how to be a fashion stylist. The fashion world can sometimes seem a little out of reach and hard to get your foot in the door, so I hope you find this conversation of value if you’re looking to get into fashion!

Some of my favourite takeaways from this episode were:

1. Follow Your Intuition

Erica is a great example of someone who followed their intuition, and let her passion lead the way. She worked incredibly hard over the years and did what felt right in each moment which eventually lead her to a killer career in the fashion industry.

2. There’s Major Growth in Discomfort

Growth only comes from discomfort and we need to learn to embrace those moments where we feel like an imposter. Push yourself even when it’s uncomfortable because you will 100% come out on the other side feeling SO good about yourself and gaining more confidence each step of the way.

3. What’s In Your Power?

Focus on what is in your power and let the universe do the rest. Send the emails, create the content, submit your work, show up where you need to, and give your best effort through it all – the rest is up to the universe and should be freed from your mind as well.

4. Start Small

No one starts off at the top, you need to build yourself up along the way. If you dream of attending the biggest shows at fashion week then you need to start off going to the smaller ones and then build up your portfolio along the way.

5. Get Creating

If you want to break into the fashion world today then start creating. Get yourself a website, create and Instagram, start a YouTube etc. and start showcasing your work. Create yourself a digital portfolio of what you can do and start reaching out to people to get yourself out there.
