Your wedding day is definitely one that fly’s by. I’m still in shock that it’s all over. Kyle and I made a pact that we wouldn’t stress about the day or put stress on anyone else ( after all it is just one day ). Even though we just went with the flow and didn’t sweat the small things, it’s still sad when it’s all over – so I honestly can’t imagine what people feel like afterwards if they’ve put all their energy into their wedding day.
The day was absolutely perfect – literally perfect. The weather was gorgeous and sunny, and not too hot or too cold. Considering it’s rained almost every single day this summer, the weather gods were definitely on our side.
We decided to keep our ceremony small and just invite our close family and friends. The intimate ceremony was held outside on a terrace overlooking the lake. The dinner and reception was held at the same location, and it couldn’t have gone any smoother. Everything from the meal, to the speeches, to the dancing was a dream. At one point Kyle and I said to each other ‘this doesn’t even feel like our wedding’ because it was such a surreal experience.
The Details of the Day
The day started off at Andaz Ottawa in the Byward Market. The girls and the guys all got ready in adjacent suites. The hotel is seriously stunning, and the chic modern décor made for the perfect pre-wedding environment ( and photos ).
From the hotel a limo came to pick up the boys first and drop them off at the venue. Next was our turn! The limo came back to pick us up and we popped some champagne in the back and giggled with excitement the whole way to the venue.
After the ceremony we left for photos at the experimental farm and the National Art Gallery of Canada. I wanted to have a good mix of both nature and architectural photos from the big day. Once photos were finished we went back to the venue for dinner, speeches, and dancing. The food was amazing, I teared up for multiple speeches, and then we all danced the night away.
Everything was literally how I dreamed it would be. The flower bouquets were to die for and exactly what I had ever hoped for, Carla from Capital Florist really knocked it out of the park with those. Lulu’s sent over some bridesmaid dresses, which were absolutely stunning and fit each of the girls flawlessly. Pink has always been my favourite colour – so obviously it would be involved on my wedding day! I love a lighter softer pink, and those dresses were exactly that.
