Puerto Plata Tropical Vacation Recap
Kyle and I just got back from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. We decided instead of exchanging gifts with each other this year for Christmas we would just take a nice trip down south ( anytime we can escape winter is a good time haha ). We stayed at the VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort, and it was only a 20 minute drive from the airport which was nice.
Recap and Unplugging
Our whole trip was really relaxing and it was the first time in over a year that I actually unplugged and chilled out a little bit. I read two books, and I had lots of time to think and clear my head. It was honestly perfect timing because I got to reflect on the year and plan big for the next! Coming home it made me realize how important it is to unplug and refresh every once in a while, because it does some serious good for your mental health.
The best part of our trip was waking up at sunrise almost every single day. We would head down to the beach and watch the sunrise and snag some photos – what a sight to be seen! Typically wherever we go Kyle snaps photos of me ( for the blog and social ), and it has lead us to not have many photos together anymore. Last year we took a trip and I realized we literally didn’t get ONE SINGLE photo together, and I really regretted it later! So, this year my plan was that whenever anyone asked if we wanted a photo together ( usually while Kyle is taking my photo ) we would agree. This year we actually got some together, and it’s a nice reminder of the kindness of strangers at the same time.
The resort was really nice, and not too big. I’ve stayed at resorts in the past that are huge and require a lot of walking depending on where you want to go, but this one was the perfect size. The grounds were always neat and tidy, and there was a big pool as well as a quiet pool off to the side.
The Food and Drink
The food was delicious; there was always tons of options, even for vegetarians. Breakfast was definitely my favourite, which included omelettes and tons of fresh fruit. We didn’t drink very much but the beer and mixed drinks were good, but I was definitely not a fan of their wine lol.
Overall it was a great trip, and I would definitely recommend the resort.
