Healthy Pumpkin Pie Protein Shake

I don’t know about you guys, but I love fall and all the treats this season brings, especially pumpkin flavoured anything. I always wondered how I can incorporate pumpkin pie flavoured food items into my diet plan, and I figured out I could actually make a protein shake that wasn’t unhealthy but was very flavourful. Here’s what you need to make this tasty treat for after your workout:

  • 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 banana ( I normally use frozen bananas, but regular ones can be used too )
  • ½ cup of pumpkin puree
  • 1 scoop of vanilla whey protein ( I sometimes use vanilla vegan protein as well )
  • ½ teaspoon of cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • A cup of frozen mangos ( option instead of bananas, or you can mix the two )
  • A handful of ice cubes

I normally like using frozen fruits to make sure it’s nice and cold, but if you are using fresh fruit you can just toss in some extra ice to chill it. You can honestly throw in whatever fruit you want ( I normally alternate between bananas, berries, or mangos ), but I find using a banana is a more mellow flavour so the pumpkin pie flavours come through a bit more. Hopefully you guys enjoy this twist on a healthy post workout shake, I know I always do this time of year!
