Let’s Get Fit HIIT Workout at Home

Halloween is over, and we all may have had a little more chocolate than usual. So what better way to burn off those sugary treats than doing HIIT? High intensity interval training or HIIT, is a form of interval training that involves alternating short bursts of high intensity anaerobic exercise with a less intense recovery period in between sets. There are a variety of benefits from doing HIIT, but I will get to all the knitty gritty in another post. HIIT workouts don’t have to be very long, in fact I normally only do about 15-20 minute workouts when performing at such a high intensity. Here are the HIIT workout at home exercises you’ll be doing to burn off those extra Halloween calories.

HIIT Workout Set

  • Step ups (30-45 seconds)
  • Jump squats (45 seconds)
  • Walking Lunges (15-20 each leg)
  • Plank (30-45 seconds)

The point of this style of workout is to complete all of the exercises back to back with no break in between. Once you have completed all 4 exercises, you can rest for 1 minute. Depending on time and how tired you are, you can perform this workout 3-5 times. As I stated before, I try to do only 15-20 minutes of HIIT, maxing out at about 30 minutes. The reps and times provided are just to be used as a guideline. If you are a beginner and this is your first time doing a HIIT workout, I would suggest doing less time and less reps, in order to be able to do everything at a comfortable level that works for you. Take your time and perform each exercise with good form, but most importantly, have fun with it!
