A Healthy Morning Routine

Having a healthy morning routine is essential to start your day off on the right foot. Here are some of the things that I do to ensure a positive start to the day.

Mindful Start

When the morning alarm goes off I always like to hit snooze. During that time I won’t look at my cell phone, but rather sit up in bed a little bit and allow my self to slowly wake up. When you look at your phone right away it can instantly cause anxiety and stress you out right away. Allow yourself that time in the morning to ease your mind into the day ahead.

Wash Up Right Away

Right after getting up I like to head to the washroom and clean up for the day. Since I shower at night, in the mornings I will wash my face and do something with my hair. Washing your face right away really helps to wake myself up and feel refreshed. From there I will tie my hair into a ponytail in preparation for a morning workout.

Eat a Healthy Breakfast

Breakfast is something I make sure to eat every single morning. A healthy breakfast is a great way to start your day, and give you some energy especially if you plan on working out. A few of my favourite meals in the morning include:

  • Oatmeal with fruit
  • 2 eggs over easy
  • 1 egg and half of an avocado
  • Avocado toast

Since I actually enjoy breakfast I always take the time to prepare a good meal first thing in the morning. If you’re not one of those people, then a healthy fruit smoothie with protein is always a quick option as well. Check out 3 different fruit smoothie recipes here.

Digest and Connect

After breakfast is when I like to sit and enjoy my coffee. During this time I will pull out my computer or my phone and begin to check social media, and my email.

Morning Exercise

I am one of those people that has to workout in the morning or I won’t ever workout. 3 days a week I’ll get up an hour earlier to squeeze in that morning workout. Fall is the perfect time of year to get some fresh air and enjoy an outdoor workout. I’m not the best at running, but I’m trying and it always feels good when you beat a personal record!

Get Ready for the Day

After a nice morning workout and cool down it’s time to get ready for the day. I like to put on some music while I do my hair and makeup, and then I will change into my outfit for the day.

Power Smoothie and On With the Day

Last but not least I like to make a protein shake before heading out. It’s always good to fuel your body after a workout, and a smoothie is a great portable option. I usually put my smoothie in a container and head out the door.
